Hailing from Glasgow, 23-year-old singer-songwriter Matthew Hall spent his teens playing drums in bands, going onto study music at Edinburgh Napier University. During this time Hall began posting guitar covers online and quickly started gaining traction for his unique take on popular songs. Solidifying an international fanbase and catapulting his voice to fame was a cover of ‘Home’ by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Matthew’s version of the track continues to have an evergreen momentum, with 30 million streams across DSPs and clocking up over 560k user generated posts online – and counting.
Hall has released x2 EP’s to date – 2023’s ‘Inconvenient’ which featured the title track co-written with Minnesotan indie artist Ber, including a subsequent feature version release of the song. As well as tracks written alongside Jonah Summerfield (Tom Grennan, Matilda Mann) and Rich Cooper (Billie Marten, Cloves). 2024’s follow up EP ‘Lucky Number 2’ saw Matthew team up with rising producers Jamie Clarke and Hugh M. Hardy, with stand out indie-folk tracks ‘This House’ and ‘Favourite Spoon’. Across Matthew’s original releases, he has had support from New Music Friday UK, Pop Rising and All New Indie as well as features in Clash Magazine, The Line of Best Fit and multiple BBC Radio 1 plays including BBC Radio 1’s Future Pop with Mollie King and a ‘Track of the Week’ on BBC Introducing Scotland.
